Leaders and Ethics

Yes it does matter if a leader is ethical. If a leader is not ethical then he could be a threat to the humanity. Also if a leader is unethical then he/she will not be liked by anyone. One example of this is with Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party. Hitler was not ethical and the consequence of that was the deaths of 11 million people. He was one of the most unethical leaders and did not care about other people except his "master race". Nobody liked Hitler and thats why he caused a world war. Another example of this is Tiger Woods. He was not ethical in his decisions and the consequences of that is being humiliated by the media to the world. His decisions caused his life to be turned upside down and get really bad.

House Rules

I think the significance of the house rules were to keep everybody staying positive to help us get through the class. i think the leader of the group or organization should set up the house rules. the one i can follow the best is speking for myself and not for others

Day 8--Initiative #2 Reflection

In the initiative i felt that i was a participant because i was helping learn to pattern so i could help everyone get through the maze so we could finish it quickly. i think it was easier to solve the problem from the outside so i could see each pattern from an aerial view so then i could recreate it from an aerial view from the inside. it was much easier to do it with talking than it was without talking because then you could talk and help each person through the pattern to get to the end. we were able to accomplish this task through trial and error to get the next square in the pattern

Day 5--Spectator and/or Active Participant

One time when i was just a spectator was when i was on a missions trip in Jamaica. We were doing some song leading and doing the motions and everything for the kids. I knew the motions and songs but I didn't want to go up on the stage in front of them to lead them. I could have become more engaged if I did go up on stage and do the motions for them.
One time when i was an active participant was also in Jamaica when we were doing a Vacation Bible School for the kids. I was a leader in the story reading and read the story to them but also doing some other things with them that I led. The motivation for this was that I was helping the children of that town to become more religious and to just help them in their overall lives.

Day 1--Opening Thoughts

1. My top 3 leaders:
a. My Parents
b. My youth leaders at church
c. My teachers

I chose these because they all have the qualities of a leader and have great positive influences on me. They also try to help me to acquire the same qualities of a leader.

2. I would like to acquire the characteristics of being kind, courageous, friendly, and the ability to be able to stand up and become a leader in the face of problems.

3. My definition of leadership is the ability for a person to stand up and be a leader in the face of problems.

4. I am taking this course to learn the abilities of a leader and to become a good leader myself. I hope to gain leadership experience.

5. Reflection:
I did not play a major role in the initiative but i did help to get a few people untangled. I was not in a great position to help people to get untangled because i was on the outside of the circle. I learned about my own strengths of being able to help people. Our groups strengths were being able for everyone to lead and help each other to get untangled.
